Youth Confirmation

Confirmation is a Sacrament in which, through the imposition of the Bishop's hands, unction and prayer, baptized persons receive the Holy Spirit, that they may steadfastly profess their faith and lead upright lives. The Sacrament is called Confirmation because it confirms or strengthens the soul by Divine Grace. Sometimes it is called the laying on of hands because the Bishop anoints the foreheads and hands of the confirmandees.

The St. Therese Youth Confirmation Program is a two-year (per Archdiocesan requirements) religious education program to prepare high school students (normally, Ninth- and Tenth-Graders) to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students begin in the Fall of their Freshman year of High School and receive the Sacrament in the Spring of their Sophomore year.

Our program is divided between first-year (C1) students and second-year (C2) students.  Both groups meet in the School classrooms on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Classes are in session from September through May.  Click on the SCHEDULE OF CLASSES link for specific dates.

Each student will need to choose a Confirmed, practicing Catholic to be his or her Sponsor.  The Sponsors will be involved with the program during both years.

Our classes challenge the youth to be witnesses to Christ and His Church.  The program also encourages full participation in the Sacraments through catechesis based on the "Catechism of the Catholic Church."  It is mandatory for Sponsors to attend the classes and any scheduled Masses.
