BAPTISM FOR INFANTS /  CHILDREN UNDER 7

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”—Matt. 28:19, 20

REQUIREMENTS:  In order to take part in our Baptism Program, BOTH PARENTS AND GODPARENTS are required to:

  • Attend a Baptism Preparation Class (unless proof is presented that a baptism preparation class was attended in the last 12 months).

FEES:  The fee per the family of each child is $25 for the class for each person or each group (same for either one or more). On the day of the baptism, you are asked to make a minimum gift to the baptism celebrant of $75.

After completing these requirements, your child will be baptized on a Saturday (normally at 11:00 a.m., but the time is subject to change).  Please note that no classes/Baptisms take place in the month in which Easter falls or in August.

CLASS & BAPTISM DATES:  The classes are held in the Parish Library in the Parish Center (upstairs in the two-story building just east of the church) from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. once a month. Check the calendar on this website for upcoming dates OR click here (X) to see the full schedule for 2018/2019. If our class dates do not fit into your schedule, you may attend a class in another church.  Just obtain proof of your attendance and bring or send it to the office before the Baptism.

BAPTISM REGISTRATION: To register for the class, email Rhonda Storey at rhondalstorey@gmail.com and just let her know that you will be coming (leave your full name and your best contact phone number).

LATIN RITE (EXTRAORDINARY FORM) BAPTISM:  If you attend the Latin Mass and would like your child to be baptized in the extraordinary form, click here (X) to download the Latin REGISTRATION FORM. You still need to attend the class but you will have to call Fr. Robert Bishop to schedule the baptism.

SELECTING THE GODPARENTS: Canon Law requires you to have at least one *godparent (may have two--one woman and one man) who:

     1) is at least 16 years of age;

     2) has received the Sacrament of Confirmation; and

     3) is a practicing Catholic.

*Each godparent must obtain proof of Confirmation and of being in good standing. A form to verify that will be given to them at the class.  If you attend the class elsewhere, you will need to make arrangements to pick one up.

QUESTIONS:  For questions, please contact the Director of Religious Education (DRE), Rhonda Storey, at (626) 284-0020, ext. 225; if she's not in, leave your name and phone number and she will call you back.
